Out of the Closet has the most amazing dollar rack this side of the Mississippi
I went to the Venice location first and found it a bit picked over due to the large hippie concentration but the Westwood location had racks full of fun… so here is how the magic of Bowjie works check the high wasted fuschia pants and batik dress that made the “Island Sky” bow.
This year I didn’t trek east for the turkey massacre, instead I spent time with my LA pals who work to much to vacay and if I do say so it was amazo. I did a double take and had both a Thanksgiving lunch and dinner complete with babies, gambling and toffee pudding. Of course, I sported the Mama Rose Bowjie.
Then Cherry The Bear and I flew south (bout 4 hours ago) after a quick stop at the Norton Simon (most impressive private collection I have seen anywhere) to the St. Regis Monarch Beach, yea I know too cool for school, for a little get away from the city. It is beautiful you can see actual stars in the sky, a delicacy to those who live the cosmopolitan steez. I got so slap happy over oysters at dinner I told my jump-off how much I enjoy his company YIKES – good mood Sita is crazy!
Today I stopped by a Westwood gem so named “Thank You Mart” (their other store is in Japan) wherewithin everything is $3.99… everything-
I picked up some vintage jr. Levis and an amazing knit cape to go with some most specialsauce bows.
I dig TYM cause their are no drunkies like the Goodwill and no attitude like Square Pegs – it’s just old kinda jacked up clothing for threeninenine
I am a huge fan of slutty myspace photos, specially when the person lives in a place like Vermont or Staten Island and keeps the swimwear pic up during the holiday season – werk out those daddy issues! But lets not front the gays are fersure equally guilty of the slutty profile photo so lets hear it for mommy issues as well! This will all make sense but lets digress…
It’s been cold for LA and by that I mean 45ish in the morning – so I’ve had to break out some left over nyc wear and I do enjoy the break in climate every now and again just as long as it’s back to 70 and sunny next week…so here are bows & coats and cause I’m a gemini and thrive on the opposition of life my attempt at a slutty myspace picture.
I have a new roommate her name is Fanny after the Bergman film. She always wants a martini before noon and won’t go anywhere without a diamond necklace, her hobbies include: witchcraft, hip hop, make up, glowsticks, dim sum, le corsair, salt n pepper, shrines, hand shaped chairs, scotch1rock, Sofia Loren, Laura stone, gem, blossom, Nova Scotia, mahjong, Big Sur, baths, blogs, Bushwick, candle wick, wicker, pastels, maritime art, birds, nail art, hipstomatic prints, porn stars, Ira Glass, glass kittens, b&w photography of litter, the jitterbug, google earth, oysters, time travel
my kind of woman.
Call George Pal – today was the kind of synchronicity that could only occur when planets move like liquid in solar two-step to the latest tune that sounds like it has been around forever;
today was my first flea ever (Melrose trading post) and a new best coast transplant Miss Maggie whom I have known since the ‘sorry, this tall to ride’ days– back in the woodsticks– did the most major solid by helping out with my booth. Now we have not seen each other in at least 8 years and recently picked up where left – firstly we threw it back talking about all the crazy plays we did as kids xsample: Marat/Sade – riiiiggghhhtt. We came from a most peculiar type of adults who live by the quote “how dare they try to end this beauty/pass that” and drum circled till digits were blue. We shared a special childhood upstate that only others who were there can really grasp, Woodstock is a magical town and all the kids there as far as I’m concerned are lawn gnomes from tinker street turned human leading Narnia lives and are nourished by the everlasting gobstopper.
THEN dear Jonney showed up bearing warm caffeinated gifts! J is a new pal, and no kids we don’t make out…yet but we do share a love of fun, he even rocked a bow around the neck sparking new ideas for the male Bowjie chapter.
THEN the bear came… yes THE BEAR none other than my favorite in the planet 7th grade hommie for life miss cherry. She reminded me of olden days when we used to spend weeks by each others side taking breaks for math classes and showers, we wore each other like a pair of socks and hey, that was high school. Nowadays its years between path crossings so imagine my elation that I have on either side of me old school childhood-woodpile friend, new london-bred friend, and high school and beyond BFF.
THEN out of nowhere mister chad whom the public may know as geeked out awesome guy in that car jump off with vin and paul w. but whom I know as this dope kid I worked with on this amazing film with this summer called Black Velvet … wait did someone say Black Velvet cause
THEN miss vivi/aviva drops in to see some bows so now I have on either side of me two homegirls from my east coast past, two friends from my west coast now, turtle doves and one brit wearing amazing sunglasses…
THEN I stop the hustle to have a bite with the bear after some really pretty women bought bows -and thank god cause Bowjie is only for the fit bitches. Beautiful miss Marissa and lovely miss Casey joined in the eating while the remarkable mister tom waited on us … it was like a friend love-fest without any risk of STD’s… so swing on my moods cause today was out of orbit
thank you a million Maggie Jonney Cherry Marissa Tom Casey Aviva and Chad for I guess being on the planet while I get to be here as well.
